Shaw Funeral Home offers several prearrangement options and encourages families to preplan funeral arrangements. Prearrangement relieves loved ones of many difficult decisions. It is truly a gift of time to those left behind.
A Word of Caution
Ensure you are dealing with a licensed funeral director and funeral home when making funeral prearrangements. In Michigan, funeral directors are required to place 100% of the preneed funds in a third party escrow. It is safe, transferable and refundable. It's still your money until time of need and can only be canceled by you the consumer. Cemeteries and non-licensed providers are not required to fully trust your money and is often unrefundable. All members of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association are fully licensed and maintain a strict code of ethics.
The links to MFDA and the Michigan Attorney General will give further consumer protection information, much of which has been crafted by funeral directors.
You don't have to pre-pay to pre-plan.
While Shaw Funeral Home recommends prefinancing funeral services. But just getting your own choices down on paper gives your family a map to follow in the event of your death and relieves a tremendous burden.
Making financial decisions rationally, before the need, affords you the time and patience to make good choices. Emotional issues at the time of death can sometimes cloud judgment. The stress of having to make these choices can sometimes get in the way of what's really important...healing.
Shaw Funeral Home offers you this prearrangement form as a way to get started. Provide as much information as you are comfortable with, and please indicate, at the conclusion, your preference for contact by our staff.
