Reverend William Bernard Ragan, Jr., of Warrenton, VA died on December 25, 2009 at the Fauquier Hospital.
Bernie was born on July 13, 1941 in Syracuse, New York a son of the late William Bernard Ragan, Sr. and Evelyn Hudson Ragan.
He attended Lemoyne College and then served in the United States Air Force from which he was honorably discharged in April 1968. For over 25 years, Bernie worked as an engineer with I. B. M. He served as a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church for over 25 years at St. John the Evanglist Church in Warrenton. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Father Veger Council of the Knights of Columbus. He was part of the Medical Missionary Team that served in Haiti.
He is survived by his beloved wife Peggy Ragan; two sons- Christopher M. Ragan of Bristow, VA and Patrick S. Ragan of Roanoke, VA; one sister- Ann Timpano, Auburn, NY and one granddaughter, Sarah Ragan.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday, January 1, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 271 Winchester Street, Warrenton, VA. A Scriptural Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM and a Presentation of a Chalice by the Knights of Columbus will begin at 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 2 at 11:00 AM at the church celebrated by The Most Reverend Paul S. Loverde with numerous concelebrants. The Homily will be delivered by Father David Martin. Interment will be on Monday January 4 at the Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.
